Romania’s state nuclear company Nuclearelectrica and Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power have poured first concrete for a tritium removal facility at the Cernavodă nuclear power station, marking Romania as a potential hub for tritium production and export.
The facility will be the first of its kind in Europe and only the third in the world. The others are at the Wolsong nuclear station in South Korea and the Darlington nuclear station in Canada.
