The final testing phase has been completed for the Belarusian-1 nuclear power unit, paving the way for commercial operation, state news agency Belta reported quoting sources at Russia’s state nuclear corporation Rosatom.

Belta said the completion of testing marks the end of experimental operation at the plant in western Belarus, which began on 22 December 2020.

The development will clear the way for the national regulator to allow commercial operation of the VVER-1200 pressurised water reactor unit, subject to local procedures, Belta said.
