Fermi America has signed two nuclear deals ahead of US president Donald Trump’s visit to South Korea later this week as the company steps up plans to deploy Westinghouse AP1000 nuclear power plants in Texas for “Project Matador” – one of the world’s largest data centre complexes.
The company, co-founded by former US energy secretary Rick Perry, announced an agreement with Doosan Enerbility to begin forging production of critical long-lead-time nuclear equipment such as reactor pressure vessels and steam generators.
Fermi America said the agreement locks in its “preeminent position” for Westinghouse AP1000 reactor projects.
