European Project Provides €2.8 Million To Deal With Legacy Radwaste
A project backed by the European Union and coordinated by Swedish radiation safety authority SSM is to provide 30 million Swedish krona (SEK) (€2.8m) to Georgia to help dispose of radioactive waste and to build an interim storage facility.

SSM said it is carrying out an international procurement for the design of the facility. It said the end result of the three-year project will be a detailed design for the facility and approval for its construction from the government.

The EU has granted SEK 20 million to the project and Sida, a Swedish government agency which targets poverty reduction overseas, has contributed SEK 10 million.
