EU’s Economic And Social Committee Criticises EC Over ‘Pinc Failure’
Brian Curtis of the European Economic and Social Committee.

10 Oct (NucNet): The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) has called for a more comprehensive strategy to be incorporated in a revised version of the European Commission’s Illustrative Programme for Nuclear Energy, or Pinc, released in April 2016.

In an interview with NucNet, EESC member Brian Curtis said the Pinc had failed to address key issues for nuclear and the EC had become “sidetracked by renewables”

He said the EESC had expected a detailed, systematic analysis of the issues facing the nuclear sector in Europe.

“Those in favour and those against nuclear power all expected a definitive overview. Where is the analysis on competiveness, economic aspects, security of supply and climate change? All these topics were dealt with in the 2007 Pinc report and are hardly touched on in 2016.”
