Ukraine’s state-owned nuclear operator Energoatom said it will begin preparations for the construction of two new AP1000 pressurised water reactor units at the site of the existing South Ukraine nuclear power station.

During a site visit earlier this week, chief executive Petro Kotin said the company should start engineering research and preliminary design works related to the new-build project.
