Officials from Ukraine’s nuclear operator Energoatom and South Korea’s utility and nuclear equipment vendor KHNP (Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power) discussed last week the prospects of building new nuclear power units in the east European country.
A statement by Energoatom said the meeting took place within the framework of a 2016 nuclear cooperation agreement between Ukraine and South Korea and Kiev’s renewed strategy for the development of nuclear power.
In August 2016, Ukraine and South Korea signed a memorandum of understanding aiming to improve bilateral cooperation in the nuclear industry.
