Egypt is planning to add two reactors at the El Dabaa nuclear power station site on the country’s Mediterranean coast, where four Russia-supplied units are already under construction.
Electricity and renewable energy minister Mahmoud Esmat said the plan was adopted following instructions from president Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and will be discussed with Russia’s state-owned nuclear energy corporation Rosatom, supplier of the first four units.
Reports in Egypt said no timeline has been set for the talks and a final decision on the expansion has not yet been announced.
