UK nuclear power operator EDF Energy has decided to shut down two of its AGR nuclear power stations, Heysham B (Heysham II), in Lancashire, and Torness, in East Lothian, ahead of schedule after a recent lifetime review.
EDF said in a statement that two AGR (advanced gas-cooled reactor) units at Heysham B and another two at Torness will now be operated until 31 March 2028.
