French state utility and nuclear operator EDF said on Tuesday (8 November) that it aims to standardise the corrosion repair works at its nuclear plants as it aims to put as many reactors as possible back in service.
Repairs at nuclear stations have forced a record number of reactors offline and sent nuclear power production to a 30-year low.
A number of reactors have been shut down for inspections and repairs related to stress corrosion and others for routine maintenance.
Minister of energy transition Agnès Pannier-Runacher said in September that 32 reactors were offline.
The government wants France to have its entire fleet of 56 reactors online by early next year, with officials saying EDF is “on board” with the schedule.
