The deadline for submitting investor applications for the Belene nuclear power station project in Bulgaria was due to expire at 17:30 local time today.The original call for interest was published on 22 May. Interested parties had 90 days to apply and will have 12 months to complete the procedure.France’s Framatome, China’s CNNC, Russia’s Rosatom and US-based General Electric had all formally expressed an initial interest in investing or providing equipment and services for Belene before the start of the procedure. Talks have also been held with South Korea’s Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power.
