The first unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant has been brought to 100% of its rated power and remains on schedule for commercial operation this year, the country’s energy ministry announced.

“On January 12, at 19.57, the first power unit of the Belarusian nuclear power station was brought to a nominal level of capacity,” the ministry said in a statement.

The ministry said comprehensive testing of equipment and systems will now be carried out at 100% power.

The Russia-supplied 1,110-MW pressurised water reactor unit will be approved for commercial operation after the successful completion of this “complex testing”, the ministry said.
