Turkey is reported to have has cancelled an agreement with a Japanese-led consortium to build a nuclear power station at Sinop in northern Turkey along the Black Sea coast. Press reports quoted Turkish energy minister Fatih Donmez as saying that results of feasibility studies conducted by Japan’s Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) did not meet the ministry’s expectations with respect to completion date and pricing.“We agreed with the Japanese side to not continue our cooperation regarding this matter,” Mr Donmez said, adding that Ankara might discuss construction of the proposed facility with other countries.“Construction of the nuclear plant in Sinop with another partner is on the table,” he said.
