Representatives from German nuclear fusion companies have founded an industrial association called ProFusion that wants to shape public opinion and help develop an industry “ecosystem” as the country aims to capitalise on the emerging sector.

ProFusion said in a statement it will serve as a point of contact for politics and media on all fusion energy topics and “contribute to the further development and structuring of the economic fusion ecosystem”.

The statement said: “After many years of fusion research, the commercial use of fusion for energy production is technologically within reach, offering significant advantages for the environment, society and the economy.”
