Bulgaria has officially inaugurated its national repository for low- and intermediate-level radioactive waste, marking a key step in completing the country’s waste management system, the Bulgarian energy ministry said.

The facility, located at the Radiana site near the Kozloduy nuclear power station, is designed to store treated and conditioned waste from the energy sector, medicine, industry and the decommissioning of the plant’s first four units, as well as from current nuclear operations.
