Details of requirements for the two-unit Belene nuclear power station project in Bulgaria have been sent to all five potential applicants on a shortlist, although the selection process could be delayed by the coronavirus epidemic, the country’s energy ministry said.

The ministry confirmed that the five are China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP), Russia’s Atomenergoprom, France’s Framatome and US-based General Electric.

CNNC, KHNP and Atomenergoprom are interested in bidding as investors in the project, while Framatome and General Electric plant to supply equipment for the project.
