If Russia’s nuclear plant designer Atomproekt can justify the competitiveness of the BN-1200 fast neutron reactor a decision to go ahead with construction of a pilot plant at the Beloyarsk nuclear site could be made early in the coming decade, state nuclear corporation Rosatom said.R&D on the design of the plant is scheduled to be complete before the end of 2021 and in 2022 Rosatom would decide whether or not to go ahead with construction, which could begin in 2025.
