The anti-nuclear organisation Beyond Nuclear is appealing the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s dismissal of its petition to intervene in proceedings for Interim Storage Partners’ (ISP) application to build and operate a consolidated interim storage facility for spent nuclear fuel in western Texas, the American Nuclear Society reported.
Beyond Nuclear filed suit on 10 February, asking a court to order the dismissal of the licence application.
ISP, a joint venture of Waste Control Specialists and Orano, submitted its application for the fuel facility with the NRC in June 2018.
