Cooperation to close 'gap' between design and licensing processes in US and Ukraine
US-based small modular reactor (SMR) developer NuScale Power has signed a memorandum of understanding with Ukraine’s State Scientific and Technical Center for Nuclear and Radiation Safety (SSTC NRS) to evaluate regulatory and design processes related to the potential deployment of NuScale’s SMR in Ukraine.NuScale said in a statement that it will cooperate with the SSTC NRS on the differences between the US and Ukrainian processes for the licensing, construction, and operation of a NuScale SMR power plant in Ukraine.
