Spain’s seven operating nuclear power plants have “proven they are essential to guarantee electricity supply” by operating for 90% of the hours in 2023, Madrid-based industry group Foro Nuclear said.

In 2023 Spain’s nuclear fleet the generated over 20% of electricity consumed in the country.

The seven plants generated 57.2 TWh of electricity, an increase from 55.9 TWh in 2022. This represents 20.34% of total net electricity production.
